PROCEDURE: At the Hotel Registration desk identify yourself as a walker. Ask for the registration box, take out the notebook and follow the instructions.
START/FINISH TIMES: 
You may participate in this walk any day of the year between sunup and sundown. During the hot summer months - when it is over 100 degrees! - it is advisable to do this walk in the early morning, and to carry 1 to 2 quarts of water and wear sunglasses and a hat. There is very little shade along most of the route.

DISTANCE: 11 km.
TRAIL DESCRIPTION: The route passes through various residential neighborhoods of this retirement community, with beautiful views of the Santa Rita Mountains. Along the walk there are various examples of typical Sonoran Desert vegetation including many types of cacti and other plants. Except for one short area, the walk is on paved sidewalks. It is recommended that you walk very early in the morning from April through September. This walk is rated 1+. It is suitable for strollers.
WATER & RESTROOMS: Water and restrooms are available at various business locations along the trail. During the hot summer months when temperatures may be 100 degrees plus, it is advisable to carry 1 to 2 quarts of water and wear sunglasses and a hat.
AWARD: There is no special award ("A" award) for this walk.
IVV Credit only is $3.00.
You may walk for free if credit or award is not desired, but you must register and complete a start card.
You may do this walk for one additional time the same day at no additional charge.
STROLLING SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW SPECIAL AWARD: This walk qualifies for AVA's Strolling Somewhere Over the Rainbow Award Program. The name of the town has the color "Green" in it.
STRUTTIN' DOWN MAINSTREET SPECIAL AWARD: This walk qualifies for AVA's Struttin' Down Main Street Special Award Program. It goes down Green Valley's historic Main Street.
WALKING AMERICA'S FIRE HOUSES SPECIAL AWARD: This walk qualifies for AVA's Walking America's Fire Houses Special Award Program. The walk passes the Green Valley Fire House.
HONORING LAW ENFORCEMENT SPECIAL AWARD: This walk qualifies for AVA's Honoring Law Enforcement Special Award Program. The walk goes past Green Valley's Sheriff's Office.
HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD SPECIAL AWARD: This walk qualifies for AVA's Hooray for Hollywood Special Award Program. The walk goes through Green Valley where the movie "The Postman" (1997) was partially filmed.
AMERICAN AUTHORS AND LITERARY LANDMARKS SPECIAL AWARD: This walk qualifies for AVA's American Authors and Literary Landmarks Special Award Program. The walk passes many of the sites mentioned in the book Green Valley, Arizona, by Philip Goorian, 2002.
WORLD LIBRARY CHALLENGE SPECIAL AWARD: This walk qualifies for the World Library Challenge Special Award Program. It goes by the Green Valley Library.
WALKING THE USA, A - Z SPECIAL AWARD: This walk qualifies for the letter "G" for AVA's Walking the USA, A - Z Special Award Program.
